Don't worry about history
Has anyone made a fatal change in the document and you think the whole job has been wasted? Don't despair. Competitors limit the number of historically stored versions of a file. But not Google. Just go through the history, find the latest usable version and restore it. In the version overview, after clicking on the version of the document, you will see who changed what.So you have everything under absolute control. Versions of the document can be freely renamed, eg. "before the deadline". Previous versions do not count towards used Drive space.
